Description

Blotniak (pl. Harrier) was a Polish miniature submarine, developed in the 1970s for sabotage operations. It was powered by electrical engine, with a top speed of 5 knots per hour. It carried a single frogman in a wet cabin (flooded during submersion; the operator carried his own breathing aparatus). It could be carried by a submarine, but also dropped from a helicopter (from up to 5 m). It was operational in the Polish Navy, but was never used in anger. Most of them were scrapped after the collapse of the Warsaw Pact.

This one is exhibited in front of Polish Navy Museum in Gdynia. There is another one on the exhibition square behind the building, and in recent years a group of enthusiasts have produced a working replica of this miniature sub.

This looks like it was from a James Bond movie.
