Wrecks of Poznan VI: Zveroboy

Probably the most powerful vehicles in Festung Posen were the ISU-152 self-propelled guns. These massive SPGs were based on the chassis of IS-2 heavy tanks. Weighing c. 47 tonns, they were armed with a 152,4 mm howitzers capable of destroying any German vehicle of WWII. Not even the Panthers and Konigstigers were save from their hits. Though the muzzle velocity was fairly low, resulting in low accuracy and pure hit strength, the amount of explosive in the shell was pretty effective against anything. Because of their effect on the latest German vehicles (named after various animals) it was nicknamed "Zveroboy" - The Beast Killer. However the ISU-152 was slow and not very manouverable, so it was vulnerable to the infantry attacks. There are no informations how this particular gun was destroyed, but it might have been work of hidden infantry with Panzerfausts or Molotov cocktails. Interestingly, one of the postcards which presented the destroyed street described it as "destroyed German tank". Well, it's not a tank nor its German...

The building next to it is the Rail Management bureau. It was rebuilt after the war.
