Type 95 Ha-Go [World of Tanks Skin]

Description

And now we go back to the DeviantART prehistory, when it was a website to share their modifications and customisations of computer software, i.e. Winamp skins. (Note: had to select different category, because "Game skins" are currently closed. I'll change it later).

After playing few matches with Ha-Go and Ke-Ni I decided not to go into Japanese tech tree, but I also decided to keep the Ha-Go. Why? For its look. I mean heck, just look at it. This thing is cute as hell. It's armour may be non-existant, it's guns are either high penetration/low damage or high alpha/low pen, but it drives like a dream with top components, and can be a real fun as long as you use it for support and utilise its speed and manouverability to avoid enemies that have approached too much.

But I didn't like the base color of the tank, so I decided to make a skin for it, as none were aviable. I tried to give it a look similar to that of Japanese tanks of WWII, but not to be historically accurate, just like with my models (in fact, this is a standard Woodland camouflage with different colours balance). I could still work on the suspension and wheels, though; if I decide to, I'll upload the corrected version.

The Kanji on the turret allegadly says "Kamikaze". Allegadly, because I have no idea if these signs really say "Divine" (top) and "Wind" (bottom). As far as my knowledge of Kanji is concerned, they can mean "Sweet and sour chicken*" just as well (I know, this is a Chinese dish, but I think Japanese eat it as well). But just this time I'll trust that someone wasn't trying to pull a prank on Western (lack of) knowledge of Oriental "alphabets" and this really means "Kamikaze".

Note: I didn't make the "Crash" version of the skin, meaning that once the tank is destroyed the camo will disappear (because another skin will be displayed on the wreck - the destroyed one). Also, when you install it every single Ha-Go in the game will have this camouflage. Moreover, it is only visible to you - other players cannot see it. If you want a camo visible to others, you have to use one from the game store (you will have to pay credits for temporary one or gold for permanent one).

(Instructions below are only for first-time "skinners", because they are very basic)

To install the skin, do this:
1. Find your World of Tanks main folder, then localise sub-folder "res_mods" and enter the folder named after the current version (right now it's 0.8.10)
2. create a subfolder "vehicles" and open it
3. create a subfolder "japan" and open it
4. create a subfolder "J03_Ha_Go"

the whole directory should be something like this: World_of_Tanksres_mods/0.8.10/vehicles/japan/J03_Ha_Go (note: with slashes going opposite direction, because dA fu*ed up).

5. download the .rar file, and unpack it in the folder "J03_Ha_Go". If your game is running and you are in the garage, once the skin is installed choose another vehicle, then go back to Ha-Go - the skin should now work.

Compatibility with newer versions shouldn't change, but when the next update is released, move your mods to the new folder (I heard it will be res_mods/0.9.0 already) or they won't work.

You can share this skin on other websites, but only by giving direct link to this page (you'll also avoid questions such as "How do I install the skin?").

*Now that I wrote it, I think I'll hit the Oriental cuisine restaurant for dinner tomorrow.
