Pacific Rim - Ataman [UA] by WormWoodTheStar Pacific Rim - Ataman [UA] by WormWoodTheStar
As requested by :iconrustysamurai:, another Jaeger from Black Sea Region. This time, it's an Ukrainian Ataman. Its name is "a title of Cossack and haidamak leaders of various kinds". I almost called it Hetman, which is an equivalent of Ataman in Polish, good thing I looked it up

Ataman is a heavy artillery-type Jaeger, designed to counter Kaiju from large distances. It has very heavy armour, at the cost of making it less agile. It's not as manouverable as Hussar, not to mention Draculea. However, in vast Ukrainian steppes this is not a great drawback. Ataman's feet are equipped with spikes which work as anchors when it fires its massive armament.

Also this is the only of my designs where this oversized head gear (which I started to call kolokol, the Russian for "bell", due to its shape) actually looks well.

I'm thinking Baltic Republics or Bulgaria next, but probably not today.

BTW did anyone notice that Ukraine's flague in Jaeger Maker is rotated upside down? It should have blue stripe on top of the yellow one. I had to correct it in Paint

I posted one called Darkness Omega on my profile, tell me what you think please,I'm thinking of making up a backstory for it too,it's like a cross between this, and howler defiant, with red decals,I'm thinking of giving it a backstory similar to howler deviants, can I do that?

I'd be willing to bet this sucker has a more heavily armored conn-pod docked in the head region (the chest region where the conn-pod docked on Cherno Alpha seems to be occupied by an anti-kaiju missile launcher) with an obscene amount of radiation shielding.

Chernobyl is not something one can easily forget (even if creating a similar event wiped out the Precursor's first Breach generator).  But damn, this sucker's got some bite on it.

If those launcher cuffs retract to expose the hands, I bet it can be fitted to handle handheld ordinance (energy weapons also serve as induction power transfers).  We've got a JM-12 Jaeger assault rifle design, and Canada has a tested magnetic railgun sniper rifle on Sierra Vigilant.

Yes, my concept was that Cherno Alpha's energy cell technology was reused as Ataman's head, but the internal mechanisms were replaced by armour and a cockpit deep inside it. That makes Ataman the best armoured Jaeger of Intersea Defence Corps.

Trivia: one thing that Ataman's pilots, Tkachuk brothers hate is nicknaming their machine "Chernobyl" and at least once this ended in a fight.

Ataman uses mostly conventional and rocket-propelled artillery, but it's quite good in melee combat as well.

Ah...I was speaking of the handheld armament system that we developed on Dragon Ascendant.  In the wake of the Kaiju becoming more and more adaptable (and after Newt's drift experiment, finding out they were intelligent and constructed for the task) we came up with an idea for ordinance the Jaeger could pick up and use without having to physically construct it into the body.

Gipsy Danger managed to beat down Otachi with a ship, after all...

The varying ordinance allows for adaptability of tactics, plus they can be handed off between Jaegers.

We only got as far as building the GAU-320 cannon before the first Breach was sealed, though.  But man...25 rounds per second of depleted uranium slugs...and uranium being a flammable metal...it would make a decent opening move in a fight.

The Canadians have a railgun on one of their Jaegers (Sierra Vigilant) that could easily be adapted to the new system.

I think the head looks more like one of an Executioner
