Flak-38

Historical Reenactement Group FLAK Abteilung deals with the air defence of the German Army during the Second World War. Here its members are firing a replica of Flak-38 anti-aircraft gun, made from original parts, as well as some modern fragments.

The trailer of the gun hides a secret device developed by Tomasz Knefel, member of the group. It contains gas cylinders and control systems that allow the gun to "fire" with compressed gas, mimicking the sound of the original Flak-38. The system was so warmly welcomed by he audience that it was miniaturised, so it can be used by smaller weapons, even machine guns. The system may not be new (it was used, for example, during the making of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade), but it's distinguished by its reliability, compactness and safety.

The gun was used during the making of Hans Kloss, a film based on extremely popular Polish black & white TV series, Stawka większa niż życie (Stake Higher than Life), which tells the story of Polish agent infiltrating the structures of German army, gestapo and SS. During the reenactement, it was used for ground fire against infantry.
