2S1 Gozdzik

2S1 Gozdzik (Gvozdika in Russian, Carnation in English) is a Soviet-design self-propelled 122 mm howitzer based on MTLB carrier (which itself is a modernised PT-76 light amphibious tank chassis). It is used by Polish army in artillery units and prooves quite succesful. It can fire HE, armour-piercing, smoke, HEAT, cluster and chemical shells (altough the two latter ones are out of use). An interesting kind of shell is the one filled with propaganda letters, named "pocisk agitacyjny" (agitation shell). They were used in various conflicts, including 2nd Chechen War, Yugoslav Wars and Middle East conflicts. Polish Gozdzik SPGs were produced by Huta Stalowa Wola ("huta" - "steel mill")
