152 mm howitzer wz. 1909

One of unique artillery pieces in Fort Winiary (aka Poznan Citadel) are four 152 mm howitzer standing at the southern entrance to the park. Their uniqueness lies in that they are the only guns in the Fort that are not of Soviet origin. These were made by French Schneider company for Imperial Russian army, and were later used by I Polish Corps in the East (made of Poles who once served in Tsar's army, and formed independent force when Poland regained independence). During Polish-bolshevik war they were used by 2nd Squadron of Greater Poland Heavy Artillery Regiment (later reformed into 7th HAR).

These howitzer are later, modernised version of Soviet 152 mm guns, but they retained their wooden wheels. Because they are "composite guns" (modernised guns on old wheels) each of them is slightly different from another.
